Pretty good start bro.
ZX-7 tail?
What's your plan for the gap between frame/tank/tail ?
Keep us updated....

Cheers.

hi martin
thought you might be lurking around here ;)
its a zx9r tail unit, 1998 i think,
as for the gap, just gonna tidy up the wires in there and make up an ally battery box i reckon,
the pic doesnt have the airbox in which takes a bit of the space just under the tank,
to be honest im not 100% about the rear end,it suits the lines of the tank quite well in the flesh...
but fancy doing something a bit different, maybe get the hacksaw out and some fibreglass...
that could get messy....

well its all gone a bit wrong,
due to issues with high compression caused by the gsxr pistons gonna have to take the 1100 engine back out,
need a bike for summer though( z>> summer!!),
so rebuilding the 900 engine,
not giving up on the 1100 though!

Couldnt you just put 2 head gaskets in to reduce compression a little?

not giving up on the 1100!
options are either reduce compression with extra gaskets/spacer or the more expensive route with custom pistons,
mmmm...
what to do...

no problem at all,
the rf engine uses the 1100s crank cases,
so the only physical difference is the rf cylinder head (smaller, lighter and downdraft carbs)
and 1100s cylinder block is chunkier.
so once youve put the 9's head on the 11 all the mounting points line up perfectly :D

it not all roses though
ive taken the 1100 engine back out, found out that the 1100 pistons combined with the 900 head
give really high compression,
so need to either get custom pistons or use a spacer/ extra gaskets,
leaning towards the pistons for more reliability (and maybe even a big bore kit while im at it ;) )

so rebuilt the 900 engine last weekend, chucked it back in the bike and went for its mot this morning..........

..chik
passed no problems!!!
back on the road!!!
just need to sort out an oil leak, think the sump might be cracked :(

(technically im on the road everyday being a despatch rider but its just not quite the same on a weedy h*nda)
