I know Bradlad is toying with LED lights and myself ( I've no dosh).
An idea has come to me (my first he!he!) and I do not wish to waste it.
High level brake lights on cars sometimes have light strips, i.e Vauxhall Zafira, Vectra,
Peugeot 106,306. The strip has 5 or 6 bulbs in.
Remove light strip from unit and fit into the rear of the bike stop light. Cut out rear of light
the same size of light strip ( use a red hot thin piece of wire) and place light strip in hole. You can hold it in place with silicon
sealent. You can get LED bulbs from Virtual Village (ebay). I have one in my rear light as it is brighter
than the tungston bulb.
I know this is not clear but you decide, like I said just an idea.
