....flush and fill a raditor system on an RF please.

I'm taking the thermostat housing off and I've never done one before. I've read the manual however that only talks about stripping it down not filling or flush out any crud.

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers,

Disconnect the bottom hose at the pump down by the clutch slave cylinder. Introduce a hose-pipe to the top of the rad via the filler cap, turn on tap and go for a cuppa. ;)

To re-fill, reconnect the bottom hose and fill system through top of rad. Replace stat, warm engine up, give the pipes a squeeze or two and carefully check level

Is the bottom hose near the clutch slave cylinder the main hose to the water pump, Fastfitter?

I changed my coolant a little while ago - did wonders for the way the bike now runs in hot traffic conditions.

Here's my thread.

That's the chap Wobbler - the pump 'sucks' the cold water from the bottom of the rad and then forces it round the various pipes and galleries and up to the stat which opens at temp to let the hot water into the rad. I'm not sure if you can fit the stat the wrong way round by mistake, mine's never been out yet.

Fastfitter.
You did a post about the sender in the thermostat housing. I will have a read of them when I have it apart. I'm hoping for an air lock or gunk.

Can I use normal car antifreeze or is it special stuff?

Miff.
Unfortunatley not M8. Its a Gixxer I'm currently working on.

Can't use tap water.

Will tap water hurt the engine?
